Except for two self financed schools for the children of middle class families in the towns of Bokaro Steel City and Hazaribag, the rest of the educational institutions, i.e. one university college, one primary teachers\' education college, 14 high schools, 7 middle schools, 13 primary schools and numerous small village schools, are all being supported by funds from well wishers to educate children of poor families. Involved in this effort to uplift the poor, especially the tribals and dalits, are 36 Jesuits, 39 Religious women, 580 lay men and women who are educating 20,880 students. Let us look in particular at the educational outreach to the Santhal and Oraon tribals and the dalits.
