Post GC 35 South Asian Discernment at Jamshedpur Oct 2010 arrived at the following vision and mission for itself.
"We have emphasized the need for and importance of a more meaningful Community Life so that we are better prepared to face key challenges in South Asia.
The thrust areas identified by us include: Displacement and Migration, Environmental Concerns and Fundamentalism.
To face these situations today the Society of Jesus sends every Jesuit to the frontiers (GC 35.3) to be 'a fire that enkindles other fires' (GC 35.2)."
